Having returned form the world cheese awards stunned by the quality of cheese spreading across the globe like a benevolent virus, we are showing off six gold winning and special trophy winning cheeses:

  • Best Mature Traditional Cheddar: Denhay Traditional Farmhouse Cheddar

  • Best French Cheese: Coeur de Camembert Calvados

  • Best Irish Cheese: Cashel Blue

  • Best Spanish Cheese: Villarejo Manchego curado DOP

  • Best Gruyere AOC: Von Mühlenen Gruyère Premier Cru 4203

  • Best English Cheese: Saint Giles

As the awards were in spain (specifically the Canaries) we have got hold two extra Spanish Gold cheeses:

  • Gold winner Payoyo goats’ cheese, from the Sierra de Grazalema in Andalucía

  • Gold winner Picos de Europa blue cheese from the green valleys of the Picos de Europa mountains on Spain’s north Atlantic coast

Come visit and ask for a taste of some of the best cheeses we can get our hands on.  My particular favourite is the gruyere: it tastes substantially better than any other gruyere I have ever stocked, I think I will be a permanent fixture on my shelves.

 

 

A little about Turnbulls if you dont know us...

 

Turnbulls Deli is an Aladdin's cave of truly delectable local and speciality food. Our cheeses, such as Montgomery's, Keens' and Westcombe cheddars, award winning Woolsery, Wigmore and our local hero Dorset Blue Vinney will make your mouth water.

 

Situated in the corner of Dorset, Wiltshire and Somerset there are many fine local producers for us to stock for you. Olives et al, Mere Fish Farm and Fudges, Moores (who make the famous Dorset Knobs), Easy Bean, Somerset Cider Brandy Company and Mrs Macks, Tracklements and South Devon Chilli Farm, we stock some of the best foods the West Country offers.

 

And we must also mention our home produced specialities. Our hams are probably the best in world, and we aren't humble about it. Try our Medieval Pork & Apricot pie, our chicken liver and brandy pate or some simple pleasures like hummus or pesto, it's best home made.
