The Food Feastival...

The events went off beautifully.  We had possibly 8000 vistors, if Roger Barnard’s (Velvet Design ) stickers and to be believed.

Thank you so much to Jilly for all her organisation, and all her teams of contributors and volunteers.  Her stage was a full day of events, including Stagecoach Theatre School, the Steps in Time Maypole dancers, the Blackmore Vale Dairy milk race, the bands and many more.

For those that weren’t there, the rain stopped when the first customer arrived and started again for us to clear up, but we were very happy by then. Roger (Jilly’s husband) and I loaded up the chairs and tables while it was raining stairrods.

The kids in the Schools’ Café (Wardour, Tisbury, Ludwell & Fontmell Primary schools) had a great days selling their home made cakes and biscuits.  They looked great in their aprons working the tables like professional waiting staff.

Special thanks to Pete Brown (click here to find his blog ), Hall & Woodhouse  and Cranborne Chase Cheese  for their support and the Beer & Cheese seminars they did with me.  They were great events and very popular.  The H&W Poacher beer is a cracker with CCC’s Kings Favourite.

All in all great day, old fashioned, well supported and left us feeling very good.  Social, local & free.

No-Car Saturdays

And a quick note about Shasftesbury, we are closing the High Street to traffic on all the first Saturdays of the summer months.  Its better on foot.

A little bit about Turnbulls

Turnbulls is the finest delicatessen and café-bistro in the Blackmore Vale, situated in the High Street of the Iron Age hill top town of Shaftesbury, North Dorset. We specialise in cheeses, local produce and home made food. 

 We have one rule: we want visitors to our shop to leave with a smile. Our atmosphere is friendly, light and open, and our staff knowledgeable and attentive. We serve a small community as well visitors to our lovely area, and we want you to come back as often as possible! 

Taste, seasonality, locality and freshness are the food values most important to us: we are a food haven embedded in the West Country. 

• Take a look at our wonderful cheese counter offering local cheeses like Montgomery's and Dorset Blue Vinney, alongside specialities from local producers like Fudges, Olives et al and Moores.
